How to choose and use a cat costume

Safety first

A cat costume should always be worn under supervision. Never dress your cat and leave it alone unattended: some cats can get tangled in accessories or become stressed. Limit sessions to 15-20 minutes maximum to protect your cat's well-being.

How to get your cat used to a costume

The key is gradual steps and rewards. Start by letting your cat sniff the costume for a few days. Then place it on its back for a few seconds while rewarding it with a treat. Gradually increase the time until your cat feels comfortable.

Photo tip For a successful photo shoot, pick a calm moment right after your cat has eaten: it will be more relaxed. Use a treat to draw its gaze toward the camera. Natural light near a window gives the best results.

Signs of stress to watch for

  • Ears flattened back
  • Twitching or lashing tail
  • Repeated attempts to remove the costume
  • Whiskers pulled back
  • Growling or hissing
  • Complete stillness (freezing)

If your cat shows these signs, remove the costume immediately and try again another time with a more gradual approach.

Cat costume FAQ

Are costumes dangerous for cats?
Not when used correctly and under supervision. The mistake to avoid is leaving a cat alone in a costume: it could get tangled in it or chew it. With the owner present and for short sessions, a costume is completely harmless for the vast majority of cats.
My cat hates being dressed up: what can I do?
Start very gradually: simply leave the costume near your cat for a few days so it gets used to the smell and the object. Then introduce it in very short steps, pairing each contact with a treat. Some cats will never accept it, and that's perfectly normal: respect their tolerance threshold.
What size costume should I choose?
Most of our costumes are adjustable and fit standard-size adult cats (3 to 6 kg). Always check the product page for exact dimensions. If you're torn between two sizes, go for the larger one: a slightly large costume is more comfortable than one that's too tight.
Can I give a costume as a gift?
Absolutely! Our costumes make an original, quirky gift for any cat lover. To send one as a gift, simply enter the recipient's delivery address when ordering. You can also add a personalized collar for a complete gift.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes 10 business days on average, with tracking. For Halloween or Christmas, order at least 3 weeks ahead to be sure your costume arrives in time: stock is limited during the holiday season.
